Plagiarism and Academic Integrity Policy

The International Conference on Islamic Finance and Banking Education (ICIFBE 2026) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and responsible scholarly communication.

ICIFBE 2026 does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, inappropriate authorship, or other forms of academic and research misconduct. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly documented, and appropriately acknowledge all sources used in the preparation of their work.

Any paper found to contain serious plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected or withdrawn from the conference process.

Plagiarism Screening

All papers submitted to ICIFBE 2026 may undergo similarity and plagiarism screening as part of the initial assessment and review process.

The Scientific Committee may use recognized similarity-detection software, such as Turnitin or other appropriate similarity-checking tools, to assist in evaluating submitted manuscripts.

Similarity reports will be assessed carefully because a similarity percentage alone does not necessarily establish plagiarism. The Committee may consider the nature, extent, and sources of matching text, including quotations, references, methodological terminology, and other legitimate similarities.

Authors are therefore encouraged to review the originality of their manuscripts and ensure appropriate citation and attribution before submission.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism occurs when authors use another person's words, ideas, data, arguments, figures, tables, methods, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment.

Plagiarism may include, but is not limited to:

  • copying text from another source without proper citation or quotation;
  • paraphrasing another author's ideas without appropriate attribution;
  • using data, figures, tables, or other materials without acknowledging their original source;
  • presenting another person's research findings or intellectual contributions as one's own;
  • reusing substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate disclosure or citation (self-plagiarism); and
  • submitting work substantially derived from another publication without appropriate acknowledgment.

Authors must provide appropriate citations whenever ideas, arguments, methods, data, or information are derived from other scholarly sources.

Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

Authors should avoid substantial reuse of their own previously published material without appropriate citation and disclosure.

A submission that substantially overlaps with previously published or submitted work may be considered redundant or duplicate publication.

Where a paper develops from previous research, authors should clearly acknowledge the earlier work and demonstrate the new contribution offered by the ICIFBE 2026 submission.

Duplicate Submission

Authors should not simultaneously submit substantially the same manuscript to ICIFBE 2026 and another conference, journal, or publication venue when such simultaneous submission conflicts with the applicable publication policies.

Authors are responsible for disclosing relevant previous or concurrent versions of the work when required.

Research Integrity

In addition to plagiarism, ICIFBE 2026 considers other forms of research misconduct seriously, including:

Data Fabrication — creating or reporting data or research results that did not actually exist.

Data Falsification — manipulating research materials, processes, data, or results in a manner that misrepresents the research.

Inappropriate Authorship — including individuals who have not made an appropriate scholarly contribution or excluding individuals who have made substantial contributions.

Citation Manipulation — including unnecessary or inappropriate citations intended primarily to influence citation metrics or create a misleading scholarly record.

Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest — failure to disclose relevant relationships or interests that could reasonably influence the research or its evaluation.

Editorial and Conference Actions

When potential plagiarism or academic misconduct is identified, the ICIFBE 2026 Scientific Committee may investigate the matter and request clarification or supporting documentation from the authors.

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, ICIFBE 2026 may:

  1. request corrections or revisions before further review;
  2. reject the submitted paper;
  3. withdraw an acceptance decision;
  4. remove the paper from the conference presentation schedule;
  5. decline to include the paper in conference proceedings or other publication channels; or
  6. refer the matter to the relevant publication partner or institution when appropriate.

Decisions will be based on the available evidence and the seriousness of the identified issue.

Misconduct Identified After Acceptance

Acceptance of a paper does not prevent ICIFBE 2026 from taking appropriate action if plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other serious misconduct is subsequently identified.

If an ethical violation is discovered after a paper has been accepted, the Scientific Committee may withdraw the acceptance and remove the paper from the conference program.

If the paper has already been forwarded to a proceedings publisher or partner journal, the matter may also be communicated to the relevant publisher or editorial team for further consideration under their respective policies.

Corrections and Retractions

For papers published through conference proceedings or other ICIFBE 2026 publication channels, allegations of misconduct discovered after publication will be addressed in coordination with the relevant publisher or publication partner.

Depending on the circumstances and the publisher's policies, appropriate action may include a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction.

ICIFBE 2026 is committed to protecting the integrity of the scholarly record and will not knowingly support the publication of research involving serious academic misconduct.

Publication Ethics

ICIFBE 2026 seeks to apply internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and responsible research conduct. Where appropriate, suspected cases of publication misconduct may be considered with reference to guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors, reviewers, and members of the Scientific Committee are expected to uphold principles of academic honesty, confidentiality, transparency, fairness, and research integrity throughout the submission, review, presentation, and publication processes.
