Financial Strategy of Prophet Yusuf AS: (Integrating Sustainable Asset Management and Risk Management)
Abstract
This study examines the integration of Prophet Yusuf’s financial strategies into the paradigms of Islamic accounting and modern financial governance. Stemming from a critique of conventional accounting systems, which tend to prioritize short-term profits and remain vulnerable to systemic crises, this research aims to formulate a sustainable financial management framework rooted in the ethical values of Islamic history. This study employs a qualitative method utilizing a library research approach. Data were gathered through content analysis of Qur'anic texts and exegesis as primary sources, complemented by contemporary scientific journals and Islamic accounting regulations as secondary sources. The findings articulate three core pillars of Prophet Yusuf’s financial strategy: (1) financial manager qualifications based on the Hafizhun 'Alim principle, which integrates moral integrity (Hafizh) and technical competence ('Alim) to reinforce Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and prevent fraud; (2) the deconstruction of risk and provisioning management systems (fadzaruuhu fii sunbulihii), reflected through asset preservation and the creation of countercyclical buffers aligned with the Allowance for Impairment Losses (CKPN); and (3) operational cost efficiency and sustainable asset management oriented toward long-term value creation.
