Abstract

This descriptive qualitative study aims to analyze the implementation of green banking and green sukuk as forms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and their impact on sustainable financial performance at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI), Bantaeng Sub-branch Office (KCP). Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document reviews involving the Branch Operation and Service Manager, Sales Force, and Customer Service staff, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that green banking has been implemented through the "BYOND by BSI" digital service, paperless initiatives, and the "BSI Smart Agent" program; these measures have proven to enhance operational and resource efficiency, service accessibility, and sustainable financial performance. Conversely, green sukuk have not yet been implemented due to low public understanding, insufficient outreach, and a scarcity of eco-friendly projects suitable as underlying assets. Key obstacles to green finance in the region include low public literacy, infrastructure limitations, and a lack of green projects; however, significant opportunities for development remain through digitalization, eco-friendly sector financing, inter-institutional collaboration, and heightened awareness of sustainable finance. Consequently, BSI KCP Bantaeng needs to expand public outreach, conduct internal training, and strengthen synergies regarding green financing.
